XSift — Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 7, 2026

Introduction

XSift (“the Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension that categorizes and filters replies on X (formerly Twitter) posts using AI. This Privacy Policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is used, and your choices.

Data the Extension Accesses

Website Content

XSift reads reply text and author metadata on X.com tweet pages in order to categorize replies into groups such as High Value, Questions, Opportunities, and Noise. This content is processed in real time and is not stored or logged by the Extension.

User-Provided Settings

The Extension stores the following in your browser's local sync storage (chrome.storage.sync):

  • Your X username (so XSift knows which tweets are yours).
  • Your chosen AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google Gemini).
  • Your API key for the selected provider.
  • Extension pause state (on/off).

This data never leaves your browser except when reply text is sent to your chosen AI provider for categorization (see below).

How Data Is Used

When you view a tweet page on X.com, XSift reads the visible reply text and sends it to the AI provider you configured (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google Gemini) using your own API key. The AI provider returns category labels and optional draft replies. No data is sent to any server operated by XSift or its developer.

Third-Party Services

XSift communicates directly with the AI provider you choose. Each provider has its own privacy policy:

XSift does not sell, trade, or share your data with any other third party.

Data Storage and Retention

All settings are stored locally in your browser via Chrome's sync storage API. No data is stored on external servers. Uninstalling the Extension removes all stored data.

Permissions

  • storage — To save your settings (username, API key, provider, pause state).
  • activeTab — To detect when you are on an X.com tweet page.
  • Host permissions (x.com)— To read and categorize replies on tweet pages.
  • Host permissions (AI provider APIs)— To send reply text to the AI provider you selected for categorization.

Children's Privacy

XSift is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the Extension after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
